In English Foundations, students will learn to become focused readers, skilled writers, careful analyzers, effective arguers, valuable team members, and savvy technology users in order to succeed at grade level high school curriculum, and have as many opportunities as possible in life after graduation.
The focus of this course is on improving reading, writing, and communication skills. Students will learn the basic elements of fiction, develop vocabulary, gain extensive practice in various forms of writing, practice analytical reading, and learn how to effectively share ideas in written and oral form. They will also regularly be expected to collaborate and to use technology to access, complete, share, and publish their work in a digital format. This course primarily uses the HamptonBrown Edge textbook and accompanying novels.
